Our unique frescoes are painted on a thin layer of natural plaster which is applied on a wooden frame.
Minoan Frescoes were created by mixing pigments with water and applying them onto plaster where the absorbed colors dried into the surface.
The crocus/saffron pickers found on Thera/Santorini, dating to ca 1550BC. The original fresco was excavated in Xeste 3 in Akrotiri. It was on the first floor on the north wall. The main theme was the gathering of crocus. The women engaged in this task wear a diversity of Minoan costumes and jewellery: earrings, necklaces (often more than one), bracelets and anklets in gold, precious stones and rock crystals. The landscape depicted is rocky and mountainous, scattered with clusters of crocus. She is wearing a layered skirt rather like the Minoan snake goddesses wear
